For our ECE4760 final design project, we designed and built a two player game system for rock-paper-scissors. Our implementation involved the use of two sensor gloves (one for each player) that tracked bends in the user's fingers, to determine the symbol put out by each player, as well as hand acceleration, to track the start and end of each game. The game system connected to a computer through the use of a USB serial connection to print game data and game statistics to the computer screen. An additional feature was implemented to ensure that both players displayed their symbols at the same time and kept the same pace to prevent cheating.

It’s helpful to be familiar with the following concepts: - installation of software on a computer platform - basic computer network terminology and concepts - common system administrator tasks and responsibilities This course has been designed to be completed completely in-browser. You don’t have to install any software on your computer.

Module 4 - Version Control and Testing

In the fourth module of this course, we'll learn about version control systems (VCS) and system testing. We'll explore why VCS are helpful for maintaining source code across programs and scripts. We'll learn how to use a popular type of VCS called Git and why remote repositories can help people develop a project collaboratively. By the end of this module, you'll understand the basic Git workflow, how to commit and "rollback" code, and even learn some advanced Git features (if you're interested). Using a VCS like Git is an awesome skill to have as an IT Support Specialist and will help set you apart from the crowd.

CSI uses a seven step improvement process plan which is critical for itself and other stages of the
ITIL lifecycle. They are as follows:

Determining what to measure-
1.Identifying what should be measured should be done as early as the planning for Service
Design and Service Strategy. The exact items that are to be measured should be clarified
and noted.
2.Defining the areas that you can measure-
After having identified and noted the service level requirements, budget constraints
and IT capabilities, the areas to measure are to be identified and defined. By having the
dierent processes and functions mapped out, CSI, upon gap analysis, finds out what areas
can be improved.
3.Gathering the data-
The next step should be to gather raw facts and quantitative data. Data is usually gathered
according to the goals and objectives of the service operation. Upon identification of the
goals and objectives, data should be collected by various means.
4.Processing the data-
During this stage, the collected data is processed in conjunction with the ITIL’s Critical
Success Factor and specified Key Performance Indicators. The raw data is insulated and
organized according to its distinctive categories and operations, which makes for easier
comparison and analysis of data.
5.Analyzing the data-
Once the data has reached the target and is instantly codified, information is generated as
the data gathered is carefully analyzed and carefully compared to find the missing gaps,
flaws and its overall eect of the collected information on the company.
6.Presenting the data for usage-
The analyzed data is presented in a clear and well defined manner to the owners and
managing operators. The collected data is distributed and explained in a way that meets
the company's demands and at the same oers solutions and steps for improvement.
7.Change implementation
Upon completion of all the above stated steps, the collected data can be used to usher
in change. Based on insights from the collected data, CSI can oer many options and
solutions to the identified problems in the various service operations.

Through implementation of these seven steps, CSI can identify the needs of the company. In the long run, the collected data helps compare and contrast past instances to present emergency conditions.

The 7 step improvement process is thus important as it assists service resources and teams to identify and analyze which aspects of their operations need monitoring and development.

Introduction to Theory of Literature (ENGL 300)

In this first lecture on the theory of literature in social contexts, Professor Paul Fry examines the work of Mikhail Bakhtin and Hans Robert Jauss. The relation of their writing to formalist theory and the work of Barthes and Foucault is articulated. The dimensions of Bakhtin's heteroglossia, along with the idea of common language, are explored in detail through a close reading of the first sentence of Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. Jauss's study of the history of reception is explicated with reference to Borges' "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote" and the Broadway revival of Damn Yankees.

The American Novel Since 1945 (ENGL 291)

In this guest lecture, Teaching Fellow Andrew Goldstone provides us with some key concepts for understanding Modernism and Nabokov's relation in particular to his literary forebears T. S. Eliot, James Joyce, and Marcel Proust. Positing the "knight's move" as a description of Nabokov's characteristically indirect, evasive style, Goldstone argues that Nabokov's parodies of Modernist form in fact reveal his deep commitment to some of the same aesthetic principles. While the knight's move often indicates a playful attitude towards tradition, it also betrays a traumatic rupture with the past, reflecting a sense of exile that links Nabokov's art with the violence of Lolita's protagonist, Humbert.

When 50,000 of Mark Rober's 3 million YouTube subscribers participated in a basic coding challenge, the data all pointed to what Rober has dubbed the Super Mario Effect. The YouTube star and former NASA engineer describes how this data-backed mindset for life gamification has stuck with him along his journey, and how it impacts the ways he helps (or tricks) his viewers into learning science, engineering, and design. Mark Rober has made a career out of engineering, entertainment, and education. After completing degrees in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University and the University of Southern California, Rober joined NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2004. In his nine years as a NASA engineer, seven of which were on the Mars rover Curiosity team, Rober worked on both the Descent Stage (the jet pack that lowered the Rover to the surface) and some hardware on the Rover top deck for collecting samples. In 2011, Rober’s iPad-based Halloween costume helped launch both his creative costume company, Digital Dudz, and his YouTube channel, which now boasts 3 million subscribers and 400 million views. His videos focus on creative ideas and science- and engineering-based pranks and activities. Rober is a regular guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". Today, he does research and development work for a large technology company in Northern California, where he lives with his wife and son. The Mechanix is a motorized guitar tuner for a standard 6-string electric or acoustic fixed bridge guitar. Traditional handheld guitar tuners are passive; they tell the user whether the guitar string is in tune, sharp, or flat, but the actual adjustment of the tension in the string has to be done by the user. This requires a fair amount of dexterity from the user, particularly when fine tuning is required. Thus, to increase both the convenience and the precision of the tuning process, we designed an active, motorized guitar tuner. The Mechanix responds to the user plucking one of the strings by turning the tuning knob until the string has reached its Standard Tuning note.

We created an RC Car that can identify a parking space and parallel park by itself. The RC Car drives down a street searching for a parking space to its right using a distance sensor. When the car has identified a space, the car checks to see whether that space is large enough to park in. If it determines that there is sufficient space, the car will begin parallel parking into that space. It uses information from sensors placed on the front, right, and rear of the car to direct the car into the parking space. Once the car has parked, it will remain in that position until it is reset.

Everyone tests the security of their application, but how safe is the build process that creates the application itself? Modern Java build tools automate the process of retrieving dependencies from public repositories such as Maven Central. Although convenient, this unfortunately also opens the door for code-injection attacks during the build process. These so-called cross-build injection (XBI) attacks are not very well known, but their impact can be devastating. You can counter attacks by both improving organizational processes and using cryptographic primitives to ensure that dependencies are safe. This session shows what you can do to secure your builds, presenting XBI attack vectors along with the appropriate countermeasures.

The Canadian-English Dictionary. Over 500 sold. Not many Canadians, I think, eh? Just joking. It's 500,000, and my name is James from EngVid. Welcome. I'm going to help you today learn to use this thing and not this thing. And there's a reason why, and I'm going to tell you why today because I think it's an important lesson that I don't see people really talk about a lot. They -- in classes, and I teach classes, we mention it. And students always come -- not always. Bad. You're so forward. They usually use an electronic dictionary, but I prefer the paper because today I'm going to teach you how to build your vocabulary using this, something that's a few hundred years old.

So let's start off: "Know your dictionary." Do you know what your dictionary -- do you know who your dictionary is or what your dictionary is? I ask you because I'm going to ask you do you know "prescriptive" versus "descriptive"? Most students don't know the difference, and it's a very important difference for you to know. If you're a native English speaker, this is your dictionary. It's good. It's great. It says things like, "'Choral' -- or of a choir. 'Chorale': slow stately hymn tune", and you're thinking, well, if you're learning English, "What did James just say to me?" There are many of these things. "'Retrench': reduce expenditure, cut." You know, like, "What?" Well, this is because it's prescriptive. "Prescriptive". Think of a doctor, you know, the guy who checks your chest, like, your heart. He prescribed something to you, right? Gives you something. But he doesn't give you any kind of extra information. He's the doctor. He's the expert. They tell you and you know. Well, if you have a command of the English language or you speak English, of course you know all the other words they use. "'Critic': Professional judge." I know all these words. I don't have to learn these words, so it's great. But if you're learning English -- and learning English -- and I want to tell you this because a lot of people don't know. You know my name, right? My name is James ESL, right? James. I can't even spell my own name. It's a lie. My name is James ESL. And some of you said, for sure, "What is "ESL? That's a funny name." Because it's not my name. "ESL" stands for "English as a Second Language". That's what it stands for. Many of your teachers use it, and they never tell you what it means. So it means James is teaching English as a second language. And that's for you guys. You have French, Hindi, Arabic as first languages, and you want to get another language. What you need is a descriptive dictionary. What does that mean? Well, let me explain something to you. There is a thing that is long, has a big head, a smile. It has little lines on its body. Its first name starts with M. His last name starts with E. Do you know whom I'm describing? It's Mr. E. Right? I described it to you. An ESL dictionary is descriptive, right? So the first thing you should know is, is your dictionary prescriptive or descriptive? "Prescriptive", like a prescription from a doctor -- it just tells you this is what the word means. It does not give explanation -- it gives an explanation, but no diagrams and no definition, okay? Or explanation. For example, a descriptive one not only tells you what the world is, it gives you an example of its use in speech. It helps you. Maybe even a picture to show you. That's for the ESL. So when you're looking for a paper dictionary, go to your bookstore and ask for a descriptive dictionary because you're studying ESL, and they'll give you the perfect dictionary for you, okay?

So what are we going to do next? That's the first thing: Know what dictionary you have because this one will help. Now, I will tell you this, though: Once you start going from the beginning and intermediate, you need the prescriptive because that's what a fluent native speaker would use, and that's what you use. So there's a reason for both. Don't forget that. If you're advanced, get prescriptive. If you're new, get descriptive. Know your dictionary.

Today we’re going to discuss the World Wide Web - not to be confused with the Internet, which is the underlying plumbing for the web as well as other networks. The World Wide Web is built on the foundation of simply linking pages to other pages with hyperlinks, but it is this massive interconnectedness that makes it so powerful. But before the web could become a thing, Tim Berners-Lee would need to invent the web browser at CERN, and search engines would need to be created to navigate these massive directories of information. By the mid 1990’s we will see the rise of Yahoo and Google and monolithic websites like Ebay and Amazon, forming the web we know today. But before we end our unit on the Internet we want to take a moment to discuss the implications of Net Neutrality, and its potential to shape the Internet's future.

Why ethane has a rotational barrier is still debatable. Analyzing conformational and configurational stereotopicity relationships among constitutionally equivalent groups reveals a subtle discrimination in enzyme reactions. When Baeyer suggested strain-induced reactivity due to distorting bond angles away from those in an ideal tetrahedron, he assumed that the cyclohexane ring is flat. He was soon corrected by clever Sachse, but Sachse's weakness in rhetoric led to a quarter-century of confusion.

Financial Theory (ECON 251)

While economists didn't have a good theory of interest until Irving Fisher came along, and didn't understand the role of collateral until even later, Shakespeare understood many of these things hundreds of years earlier. The first half of this lecture examines Shakespeare's economic insights in depth, and sees how they sometimes prefigured or even surpassed Irving Fisher's intuitions. The second half of this lecture uses the concept of present value to define and explain some of the basic financial instruments: coupon bonds, annuities, perpetuities, and mortgages.

In this second lecture on the poetry of Robert Frost, the poet's use of iambic pentameter in "Birches" is discussed. Frost's anti-modernity is evidenced in his interest in rural New England culture and his concern with the lives of laborers in "Home Burial." The failure of humanity to work real change is sardonically depicted in "Provide, Provide," but a hopeful vision of the power of imagination is presented in the final lines of the late poem, "Directive."

In Tana Toraja, weddings and births aren’t the social gatherings that knit society together. In this part of Indonesia, big, raucous funerals form the center of social life. Anthropologist Kelli Swazey takes a look at this culture, in which the bodies of dead relatives are cared for even years after they have passed. While it sounds strange to Western sensibilities, she says, this could actually be a truer reflection of the fact that relationships with loved ones don’t simply end when breathing does. coaching skills 101, coaching definition, meaning, and best practices. what are the essential skills that a good coach needs? whether you’re a professional coach, a leader or manager using a coaching approach to help your team members develop, or using your coaching skills in a less-formal environment, there are a number of key skills that will help you to become a great coach. the most important attribute of any coach is that they want to help the person or people they are coaching to learn. a good coach doesn't see themselves as an expert able to fix all problems and have all the answers. instead, they see themselves as supporting the process of learning.

there are two main types of the coaching relationship. the first is with an external coach who is not part of the organization or line management structure in any way. the second is an internal coaching relationship, where a manager or leader acts as a coach for their team. the two require different ways of working as a coach, although they share some similarities.

in an external relationship, the coach has no subject expertise and no vested interest in the outcome of any decisions, except insofar as the person being coached is pleased with the outcome of the coaching. they also have no preconceived ideas about the person being coached: they probably don’t know them in a work context and have no idea of the quality of their work performance.

in an internal relationship, however, the coach may well have a strong vested interest in the quality of the decision-making, as well as knowing a lot about the subject. they may well know the person being coached very well: they may have been managing them for some time and have some preconceived ideas of the likely outcomes of coaching, which may not necessarily be positive.

internal coach, therefore, has to work on several issues that the external coach does not encounter: putting aside any preconceived ideas about the person and their effectiveness. try to focus on the coaching process, and what you learn about the individual through that.
parking your own subject expertise, and helping the individual to develop their own solutions. one good way is to make an effort never to offer a comment, but only ever to ask open questions (so not ‘have you thought about doing x?).
not leaping to solutions but, instead, allowing the person being coached time to explore the problem in their own way. again, continuing to ask questions about the nature of the problem, or what might be a possible solution, is a good way to do this. being aware of assumptions made, whether about the person, the process or the subject.

What is the DigiSkills Program?
Advent of new ICT technologies has opened a myriad of new possibilities for knowledge workers across the globe by enabling them to provide their services remotely to clients. By leveraging these ICT technologies, a new on-demand economy is being created, where professional activities broken into discrete assignments are offered to a virtual cloud of aspiring workers. This industry, often referred to as online outsourcing, is expected to generate gross service revenue between $15 billion and $25 billion by 2020.

Major chunk of this online outsourcing industry is being taken by individuals having necessary and relevant skills required to complete these temporary assignments and project or contract-based work. Millions of individuals around the world are tapping into the opportunity and earning money while working from the comfort of their homes. This trend is expected to grow as the creative destruction caused by fourth industrial wave continues to disrupt business processes and models.

Pakistan is the world’s fourth largest provider of online freelancers with estimated registered number of online freelancers ranging in several hundreds of thousands. Most of the work done is for international clients; therefore, money earned by them is brought into the country, mainly as foreign remittances. While accurate data on money brought by freelancers is not available, estimates range from $ 500 Million to $ 1.3 Billion annually.

This amount is just a fraction of the country’s potential as, with its large population, increasing internet connectivity, broadband penetration, young and educated youth, thousands of IT graduates and million-plus enrolled university students, Pakistan can increase the number of freelancer’s manifold. This will help bring invaluable foreign exchange into the country, and more importantly, reduce unemployment as the number of fresh graduates passing out every year is a lot more than the number of new jobs created.

This large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program has been launched, across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology.
Therefore, this large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program, which was conceived by the Minister of IT and Telecom, has been launched across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology. Virtual University of Pakistan has been selected to execute this mega training program under the auspices of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom through Ignite- National Technology Fund (formerly National ICT R&D Fund). The DigiSkills Program is aimed at equipping our youth, freelancers, students, housewives, professionals, etc. with knowledge, skills, tools & techniques necessary to seize the opportunities available internationally in online marketplaces as well as locally to earn a decent living.

The program aims at not only developing key specialized skills, but also imparting knowledge about various freelancing and other employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available internationally and locally. Due to limited employment opportunities, it is essential for upcoming workforce to have necessary knowledge and abilities to grab such opportunities. This is envisaged to be achieved through a national level program, which will train target audiences in freelancing and other specialized skills listed below:

- Rounded pencil case full of salty bread sticks is what dreams are made of, right?! One of my favorite DIY edible school supplies and a great way to prank your teacher.
- A very unique and creative idea to sneak candy in class is hiding small nerd drops into an eraser! This is so convenient, extra sneaky and simply very clever! The teacher will have no idea.
- Crunchy gold fish and pretzels are one of my favorite salty snacks! An easy way to sneak them back to school is by hiding them in a pot of paper pins. A perfect DIY edible school hack for when you start to feel a bit hungry during classes.
- One of my favorite weird ways to sneak food, drinks in class is coca cola in a pencil case! You can pull so many funny pranks and pranks on your classmates and teachers with this one!
- Any pot packaged snacks are very easy to sneak to school in a form of a pencil pot. Just wrap the packaging in some wrapping or crafting paper and you're set! A great way to sneak mini oreos, jelly beans or salty nuts to class.
- PEZ candy drops are so tasty and remind me of my childhood. Sneak them in class by hiding them in a notebook. You can smuggle so many in class for you and all your school friends!
- Chewy fruity drops are a perfect candy to hide in a box of coloring pencils! Switch up the normal coloring pencils with a shorter version and you get a lot of free space for candy! So smart!
- Skittles are small and convenient so sneaking them to school is very easy. Split a pencil pot in two halves with a piece of a cardboard. Now fill one half with pens and pencils and the other half with skittles!
- A giant gummy candy belt and hubba bubba are perfect treats to hide in a tape dispenser. This edible school hack is simply genius!
- Replace the erasers with meringues on your pencils! You get the most delicious and sneaky pencil toppers ever. Prank your teachers and school friends with your new DIY edible school supplies! If you want your desert to taste even better, squeeze some delightful chocolate sauce on to. Hide the chocolate in a clean non transparent glue bottle. You'll be the funny school prank wars winner for sure!
- Take a box of crayons and switch the crayons with chewy candy sticks. Extremely delicious!
- Melody lollipops are so fun and you can hide one in your marker! This DIY school supplies idea is so creative !
