Lecture 3 introduces the GloVe model for training word vectors. Then it extends our discussion of word vectors (interchangeably called word embeddings) by seeing how they can be evaluated intrinsically and extrinsically. As we proceed, we discuss the example of word analogies as an intrinsic evaluation technique and how it can be used to tune word embedding techniques. We then discuss training model weights/parameters and word vectors for extrinsic tasks. Lastly we motivate artificial neural networks as a class of models for natural language processing tasks.

For our final design project, we built an automated Rock Band player that can beat any Rock Band song by decoding the Xbox 360 video output and sending the appropriate button push and strum signals to a modified Xbox controller. This project was particularly appealing to us because we are both Rock Band fanatics. We had both seen videos of people using bots to beat Rock Band and Guitar Hero songs by using photosensors or by pre-programming the correct button sequence. We had never heard of anyone using the raw video output to decode and beat a Rock Band song and thought it would be a fun and challenging project. The fact that this project combines so many different ECE and CS concepts helped us in our decision as well.

As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

This trend is expected to grow as the creative destruction caused by fourth industrial wave continues to disrupt business processes and models.

Pakistan is the world’s fourth largest provider of online freelancers with estimated registered number of online freelancers ranging in several hundreds of thousands. Most of the work done is for international clients; therefore, money earned by them is brought into the country, mainly as foreign remittances. While accurate data on money brought by freelancers is not available, estimates range from $ 500 Million to $ 1.3 Billion annually.

This amount is just a fraction of the country’s potential as, with its large population, increasing internet connectivity, broadband penetration, young and educated youth, thousands of IT graduates and million-plus enrolled university students, Pakistan can increase the number of freelancer’s manifold. This will help bring invaluable foreign exchange into the country, and more importantly, reduce unemployment as the number of fresh graduates passing out every year is a lot more than the number of new jobs created.

This large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program has been launched, across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology.
Therefore, this large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program, which was conceived by the Minister of IT and Telecom, has been launched across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology. Virtual University of Pakistan has been selected to execute this mega training program under the auspices of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom through Ignite- National Technology Fund (formerly National ICT R&D Fund). The DigiSkills Program is aimed at equipping our youth, freelancers, students, housewives, professionals, etc. with knowledge, skills, tools & techniques necessary to seize the opportunities available internationally in online marketplaces as well as locally to earn a decent living.

This course will cover the end-to-end configuration of an MPLS L3 VPN setup in a series of segmented 30-minutes videos. Each video will tackle, in chronological order (BGP-free MPLS core with OSPF, PE router VRF configuration, iBGP peerings, PE-CE routing protocols, etc.), the setup and configuration of a fully functional MPLS L3 VPN. OSPF and EIGRP will be highlighted as the PE-CE routing protocols (due to the added complexity they bring to the configuration over eBGP) with a focus on the subtleties that each protocol brings to the equation. A look at back-door links for both protocols will be investigated as well as the loop prevention mechanisms that come into play.

Have you ever thought about all the different kinds of groups you’re a part of? Like, there’s the friends you hang out with and your family, your hockey team, your Crash Course fan club, and that’s just for starters! And even though these groups are totally different, in each of them there’s something that all its members have in common.

We've learned that all objects---that is, all things made of /matter/--- have properties, qualities that make them different from one another.

Like, the metal water bottle we had in our lunch bag was a good conductor of heat, and the fruit strip was more malleable than the potato chip. Just like groups of people have major things in common, so do different materials. So how does that work? How can we group materials by their properties?

Frontiers/Controversies in Astrophysics (ASTR 160)

Reasons for the expansion of the universe are addressed at the start of this lecture, focusing especially on the acceleration of dark energy. Supernovae were the first evidence for the existence of dark energy. Two other proofs are presented. The first is the Cosmic Microwave Background, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation that is perfectly smooth and equal in all directions. It firmly supports the Big Bang theory. Projects attempting to measure it, such as COBE and WMAP, are discussed. Secondly, Large-Scale Clustering is introduced: by measuring the degree of clustering, astronomers hope to advance their understanding of dark energy and dark matter. Computer simulations of the evolution of the universe are shown.

Financial Theory (ECON 251)

This lecture gives a brief history of the young field of financial theory, which began in business schools quite separate from economics, and of my growing interest in the field and in Wall Street. A cornerstone of standard financial theory is the efficient markets hypothesis, but that has been discredited by the financial crisis of 2007-09. This lecture describes the kinds of questions standard financial theory nevertheless answers well. It also introduces the leverage cycle as a critique of standard financial theory and as an explanation of the crisis. The lecture ends with a class experiment illustrating a situation in which the efficient markets hypothesis works surprisingly well.

Hi. I'm Rebecca from engVid. In this lesson you'll learn the difference between two confusing pronouns, and they are: "I" and "me". Okay? Now, unfortunately, mistakes are being made everywhere with these two simple pronouns Okay? Whether you're reading on the internet, or whether you're watching a show, or anything else, you'll see people making lots of mistakes here, so it's very important that you watch this lesson so that you know what's right and you do you what's right, especially if you're taking an exam, like the IELTS, or the TOEFL, or the TOEIC, or anything else; or if you're applying for a job, because this kind of mistake is a very basic mistake, and you don't want to make it ever. Okay. So, I'm going to show you exactly how to know when to use "I" and when to use "me". All right? So, let's have a look.

Now, as I said, we are focusing on "I" and "me" here; we... I do have another lesson in which I talk about all of the pronouns because sometimes all of them are mixed up, and I'll give you a link to that in the lesson description so you can watch that later if you want to get an overview of all of the pronouns, but let's start with this important one because very often we are talking about ourselves, and for that we need to say: "I" or "me". All right? Here we go.

So, first of all, both "I" and "me" are pronouns. Okay? Now, the pronoun basically takes the place of a noun. All right? That's a grammatical explanation; don't worry about it too much. The most important thing that you have to remember here is that "I" is used as the subject of a sentence, and it does the action in a sentence. All right? And "me" is an object; it receives the action of the sentence. All right? To understand exactly how that works, let's look at some examples.

So, here we said: "I called Steve." And "I" is the subject. Right? "I called", so I am doing the action. Whereas here: "Steve called me." Now Steve is doing the action, so "Steve" is the subject, and "me", here, is the object. Right? Yes, I heard you say that. Yes. It's correct. Okay? Steve called me, so I received the action, I received the call. Okay? Here I made the call, so I did the action; there I received it. Got it? It's always like that. Okay? "I" is always going to be the one that does the action; "me" is the one that receives the action.

All right, let's look at some more examples. "I talked to Mary." Okay? Again, "I" is the subject, and so we used it here. And here: "Mary talked to me." All right? So, here, we have "me", again, as the object which received the action. Who is the subject here? "Mary". All right? "Mary" was the subject here; "Steve" was the subject here, but here we're focusing on: What's the object? "me".

Now, another clue to know that you need to use "me" and not "I" is because we see here a preposition, right? "to". So, whenever you see a preposition, after that what needs to follow is a object pronoun; not the subject pronoun. So: "to me", "for me", "before me", "after me", "with me", okay? All that kind of thing. Or even here: "Steve called me.", "Steve texted me.", "Steve asked me.", "Steve answered me." Okay? But, again: "me", "me", "me". All right? When it's... And you'll see that it's usually at the end of the sentence, whereas the subject is at the beginning of the sentence. Okay. So, that's the basic stuff. This is when we have one subject or one object, so that's the basics.

Now, where do people make most of the mistakes? When... Somehow when we have multiple subjects or multiple objects. So even though they know this rule, most of the time most people, somehow when there are multiple subjects or objects, for some reason people get a little bit confused. So, that's okay. Let's clarify all your confusion right now.

So, let's look at this example: "Sarah and I are friends." Okay? So, here we had more than one subject; we had a compound subject. But we still have to say: "I" because it's a subject. Okay? "Sarah and I". All right? Not: "Sarah and me"; "Sarah and I". Because... And also, another way you can tell: Take out "Sarah", and then you say: "I am friends". Right? We don't say: "me am friends" or something like that. So, you have to use "I" here, but let's look at the other side of the equation. "The gift is from Sarah and me." […]

Professor Kagan elaborates on the "argument from simplicity" and discusses in detail Plato's claims that the soul is simple, changeless and therefore indestructible. The final Platonic argument under discussion is the "argument from essential properties" in which the essential properties of the soul are addressed. At the end of the lecture the question of whether one needs to argue for physicalism is posed.

This lecture treats the first two books of the sequel to Paradise Lost, Paradise Reqained. The difference in style and subject matter is described. The poem's depiction of the Son of God and Satan, specifically the characters' seeming inability to recollect any of the events of Paradise Lost or the Bible, is closely analyzed. At the lecture's conclusion, similarities between the Son's slowly developing sense of his identity and Milton's own narrative of his poetic development are examined.

Polynomial spaces are excellent examples of linear spaces. For example, the space of polynomials of degree three or less forms a linear or vector space which we call P^3. Advent of new ICT technologies has opened a myriad of new possibilities for knowledge workers across the globe by enabling them to provide their services remotely to clients. By leveraging these ICT technologies, a new on-demand economy is being created, where professional activities broken into discrete assignments are offered to a virtual cloud of aspiring workers. This industry, often referred to as online outsourcing, is expected to generate gross service revenue between $15 billion and $25 billion by 2020.

Major chunk of this online outsourcing industry is being taken by individuals having necessary and relevant skills required to complete these temporary assignments and project or contract-based work. Millions of individuals around the world are tapping into the opportunity and earning money while working from the comfort of their homes. This trend is expected to grow as the creative destruction caused by fourth industrial wave continues to disrupt business processes and models.

Pakistan is the world’s fourth largest provider of online freelancers with estimated registered number of online freelancers ranging in several hundreds of thousands. Most of the work done is for international clients; therefore, money earned by them is brought into the country, mainly as foreign remittances. While accurate data on money brought by freelancers is not available, estimates range from $ 500 Million to $ 1.3 Billion annually.

This amount is just a fraction of the country’s potential as, with its large population, increasing internet connectivity, broadband penetration, young and educated youth, thousands of IT graduates and million-plus enrolled university students, Pakistan can increase the number of freelancer’s manifold. This will help bring invaluable foreign exchange into the country, and more importantly, reduce unemployment as the number of fresh graduates passing out every year is a lot more than the number of new jobs created.

This large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program has been launched, across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology.
Therefore, this large scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program, which was conceived by the Minister of IT and Telecom, has been launched across the country, to train one (1) million people in the future of work using technology. Virtual University of Pakistan has been selected to execute this mega training program under the auspices of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom through Ignite- National Technology Fund (formerly National ICT R&D Fund). The DigiSkills Program is aimed at equipping our youth, freelancers, students, housewives, professionals, etc. with knowledge, skills, tools & techniques necessary to seize the opportunities available internationally in online marketplaces as well as locally to earn a decent living.

The program aims at not only developing key specialized skills, but also imparting knowledge about various freelancing and other employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available internationally and locally. Due to limited employment opportunities, it is essential for upcoming workforce to have necessary knowledge and abilities to grab such opportunities. الخواطر
الخواطر: جمع خاطرة، وهي نص منثور مكوّن من سطر أو مجموعة سطور، يعبر كاتبها عن الأفكار التي تدور في رأسه، وأسلوب كتابتها قريب إلى الأسلوب الشعري، ولكنها لا تلتزم بأي بحور شعرية، وتُكتب حول موضوع معين.

تعدّ كتابة الخواطر من الفنون الكتابية، التي يلجأ إليها الكُتاب للتعبير عن العديد من المواضيع، سواءً الشخصية، أو العامة والتي تهتم في مناقشة معظم الأحداث التي تحصل في المجتمع، ومن الواضح أنّ الشباب هم أكثر كتابة للخواطر، لما لها من طريقة كتابية سهلة، لا تعتمد أحياناً على الإلتزام بالنص، لذلك تختلف عن النصوص الأدبية الأخرى التي تحتاج إلى قواعد أساسية لكتابتها، مثل: القصائد الشعرية، أو القصص القصيرة، كما أنها لا تحتاج إلى أن يتقن كاتبها البحور الشعريّة، بل من الممكن أن يؤلف نصّاً ذا معنى، دون الحاجة إلى بنائه على قافية معيّنة.

يجب على الشخص الذي يريد أن يبدأ بكتابة الخواطر، تنمية موهبة الكتابة، فعندما يستطيع تصور الأفكار، ونقلها على الأوراق التي أمامه، عندها يكون جاهزاً لكتابة خاطرة جميلة، ومعبّرة، حتى يفهمها القارئ بشكل واضح، ويدرك معناها، لذلك تعدّ الموهبة العامل الأساسي والأول للبدء في العمل على أيّ شيء نريده، وفي الكتابة عموماً يحتاج الكاتب إلى موهبة حتى يكتب نصاً ممتازاً، وبطريقة صحيحة.كيف تتعلم كتابة الخواطر
لتعلم كتابة الخواطر، يجب مراعاة الأمور التالية:

الالتزام بشكل الخاطرة: عند البدء في كتابة خاطرة يجب الالتزام بشكلها، وطبيعة تركيبتها، حتى يطلق عليها مسمّى خاطرة، فسطورها تتكوّن من مفردات مترابطة توضح الأفكار التي تحتويها، كما أنّ الخاطرة لا تكتب بسطور كثيرة، فمثلًا: لا يسمّى نص من خمسين سطر باسم خاطرة، بل يجب أن يكون نصّها بسيطاً ومتوافقاً مع مفرداتها جميعها، من بدايته حتى نهايته، حتى ينجح كاتبها في الحصول على نص جيد.
الكتابة بلغة سليمة: يجب على كاتب الخواطر كتابتها بلغة سليمة، وأن يختار الأسلوب اللغوي الذي سيتبعه في نصها، بمعنى أن لا يخلط بين اللهجة المحكية، واللغة العربية الفصحى، بل أن تكون لغة النص واحدة وثابتة، وبالطبع ينصح بأن تكتب الخاطرة باللغة العربية الفصحى، حتى تكتسب جمالها، ورونقها، فمفردات اللغة العربية هي الأكثر قدرة على صياغة نص كامل متكامل.
موضوع الخاطرة: الخواطر تتضمّن موضوعاً يتحدّث عنه الكاتب، وعليه أن يوضّحه، ويبين مدى دور المفردات وتتابع السطور في إضافة الجمالية التي يحتاجها موضوع الخاطرة، فلا يكفي التعبير عن ما يريده الكاتب، أو ما يدور في ذهنه من أجل كتابة موضوع الخاطرة، بل يجب أن تكون ذات فكرة رئيسيّة، ففي حال كانت الخاطرة مكوّنة من سطر واحد أو جملة واحدة، عندما تكون فكرتها واضحة يؤدي ذلك إلى أن تظهر بشكل مناسب.خطوات في كتابة الخواطر
توجد مجموعة من الخطوات البسيطة التي تساعد على كتابة خاطرة:

تحضير الفكرة التي يريد الكاتب كتابتها في نص الخاطرة.
تجهيز الأوراق والأقلام للبدء في الكتابة.
بداية كتابة الخاطرة بأسلوب تعبيري أي أن تبدأ بوصف شيء ما، مثل: البحر جميل في هدوئه.
تحديد حجم نص الخاطرة، وتعتمد نهايتها على انتهاء الفكرة الرئيسيّة التي تبنى عليها.
