Investment returns are not guaranteed, and you could lose money by investing in the Direct plan.

This Web site contains links to other Web sites as a convenience to users. However none of the Program; The New York State Office of the State Comptroller; the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation; The Vanguard Group, Inc.; Ascensus College Savings, Inc.; nor any of their affiliates endorses or takes any responsibility for any such Web site or for any information contained thereon, except, in each case, with respect to their own Web sites.

Before investing in any 529 plan, you should consider whether your or the beneficiary's home state offers a 529 plan that provides its taxpayers with favorable state tax and other benefits that are only available through investment in the home state's 529 plan. You also should consult your financial, tax, or other adviser to learn more about how state-based benefits (or any limitations) would apply to your specific circumstances. You also may wish to contact your home state's 529 plan(s), or any other 529 plan, to learn more about those plans' features, benefits and limitations. Keep in mind that state-based benefits should be one of many appropriately weighted factors to be considered when making an investment decision.

The Comptroller of the State of New York and the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation are the Program Administrators and are responsible for implementing and administering the Direct Plan. Neither the State of New York nor its agencies insures accounts or guarantees the principal deposited in those accounts or any investment returns on any amount or investment portfolio.

Ascensus Broker Dealer Services, Inc., and Ascensus Investment Advisors, LLC, serve as Program Manager and Recordkeeping and Servicing Agent, respectively, and are responsible for day-to-day operations. The Vanguard Group, Inc., serves as the Investment Manager. Vanguard Marketing Corporation markets, distributes, and underwrites the Direct Plan.

New York's 529 College Savings Program currently includes two separate 529 plans. The Direct Plan is sold directly by the Program. You may also participate in the Advisor Plan, which is sold exclusively through financial advisors and has different investment options and higher fees and expenses as well as financial advisor compensation.
